Welcome to Part Four of my Confidence Booster Series, where I share practical strategies to boost your confidence.
Feel the Fear – Then Take “Massive Imperfect Action”
We’ve all been there, frozen in place, consumed by the “what ifs.”
- What if I fail?
- What if I mess it up?
- What if people think I don’t know what I’m doing?
Fear is sneaky. It whispers worst-case scenarios and convinces us we’re not ready. It paralyzes us into inaction, and the longer we sit in that fear, the more power it gains.
But here’s the truth I’ve learned (and teach my coaching clients): The fastest way to dissolve fear is to do the thing you’re afraid of.
It sounds counterintuitive, right? But action breaks the cycle. And not just any action—Massive Imperfect Action.
What is “Massive Imperfect Action?”
It’s a confidence strategy I love because it gives you permission to act before you feel 100% ready.
Let’s break it down:
Massive: It’s not about the size of the step – it’s about the consistency of your effort. Taking one small, brave action every day adds up to something big. Imagine what you could accomplish if you took just one step towards your goal every single day for a year. That’s 365 steps forward! Confidence grows through repetition, not perfection. So, keep showing up again and again.
Imperfect: Stop waiting for the perfect plan, perfect timing, or perfect version of yourself. You’ll learn as you go. Mistakes are proof you’re trying—and trying builds confidence.
Action: Do something. Anything. Thinking and planning can feel productive, but they don’t build confidence like action does. Action gives you results, clarity, and momentum.
Real Talk
You don’t become confident before you do the scary thing.
You become confident because you did it.
So, what’s one fear that’s holding you back today?
What’s one Massive Imperfect Action you could take to move through it?
You don’t have to feel fearless to be brave. You just have to decide that fear doesn’t get to be the boss of you anymore.
